This fabulous Antique late Victorian locket pendant is really something special. It appears to have belonged to Anne Eliza Fell, wife of George Augustus Haig and on the reverse of the pendant it is engraved … “Anne Eliza Fell Wife of G A Haig Penithon - Born 31.5.1822/ Died 9.4.1894”.
Anne Eliza Fell was the mother of Sybil Margaret Thomas, Viscountess Rhondda. Sybil was a noted British suffragette, feminist and philanthropist. In the 1890’s she became president of the Welsh Union of Women’s Liberal Associations, which was strongly feminist and pro-female suffrage. It’s possible the pendant was handed down to her after her mother’s death and was kept within the family.
The colourful image within has been hand painted under crystal and depicts a beautiful lady with a floral bonnet and may be Anne Eliza Fell herself.
Further to this the piece is haloed by an array of glistening Old Mine cut Diamonds which total to approx. 2ct. It’s fashioned in Silver and backed in 18ct Yellow Gold.
It really is a remarkable pendant and a highly prized piece of history. A true collectors piece.
