Georgian jewellery embodied Enlightenment ideals of symmetry and proportion. Sparkling diamonds took centre stage, often set in silver or rose gold using closed-back settings to enhance the brilliance of the Diamonds. Popular pieces included delicate gemstone rings, rivière necklaces featuring cascading diamonds, and statement brooches with mythological or floral motifs. Pearls were prized for their elegance, often adorning chokers and earrings. Georgian jewellery exuded a timeless sophistication that continues to inspire admiration today.

Victorian jewellery was an explosion of sentiment and craftsmanship. Made from gold, silver, and later platinum, it featured symbolic motifs like hearts and flowers, often crafted using delicate filigree or hammered repoussé techniques. Diamonds offered sparkle, but coloured gemstones and pearls were just as popular amongst Victorian jewellery pieces. From sentimental lockets to dramatic bib necklaces, there was a piece for every occasion, reflecting the wearer's status and personality with timeless elegance.

Edwardian jewellery, crafted from 1901 to 1910, marked a shift from the opulence of the Victorians to a more delicate and feminine style. Platinum became more widely used, owing to its durability and sleekness, while diamonds reigned supreme with their brilliance. Intricate milgrain details and pear-shaped diamonds were popular, often incorporated into pendant necklaces, lavaliere necklaces (long chains with a pendant at the bottom), and delicate chokers. Edwardian jewellery embodied the elegance and sophistication of the era.

Art Deco jewellery embodied the glamour and innovation of the Roaring Twenties. Think of geometric shapes like squares, triangles, and chevrons adorning bold necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Striking colours were achieved with gemstones like emeralds, rubies, and onyx, alongside the ever-popular diamonds. Platinum was the metal of choice, as its clean lines perfectly complemented the geometric designs. This jewellery era saw a rise in costume jewellery as well, with innovative materials offering more affordable options. From chandelier earrings to geometric tiaras, the Art Deco jewellery era continues to be admired for its sophistication, bold use of colour, and timeless designs.

Suffragette jewellery was a powerful symbol of activism in the early 20th century.  These jewellery pieces were typically crafted from silver or gold and incorporated the suffragette colours - which were purple, green, and white enamel. Popular motifs included pendants featuring phrases like "Votes for Women" or symbolic imagery like breaking chains. Brooches were a prominent choice for suffragette supporters as they allowed the easy display of their message on clothing. More than just adornment, suffragette jewellery was a conversation starter, a badge of courage, and a way to visually support the fight for women's suffrage.
