Details
Measuring 15.7 inches in length and weighing over 100 grams, this magnificent vintage curb chain collar necklace is a superb creation by the renowned Parisian maison Christofle as part of their prestigious Bijoux d'Orfèvre collection. Expertly crafted in solid sterling silver, bearing French silver hallmarks, and finished in luminous 18ct yellow gold vermeil, it has a wonderfully silky feel against the skin.
The bold snap-lock clasp is stamped with the mark of “Christofle” and adorned with two raspberry-red, half-moon-cut garnets (approx. 1ct each). Long celebrated as symbols of passion, protection and devotion, the garnets provide a striking focal point, meeting romantically in the middle at the collarbone.
Founded in Paris in 1830 by Charles Christofle, the celebrated maison rose to prominence as goldsmith to European royalty, including King Louis-Philippe and Emperor Napoleon III. In the 1980s, the house returned to its fine jewellery roots with collections such as Bijoux d'Orfèvre, bringing its centuries-old silversmithing expertise to bold, architectural jewellery design.
Presented in excellent vintage condition and accompanied by its original green leather case with cream velvet interior, this rare designer collar captures the unmistakable glamour of French luxury. A remarkable statement piece for the discerning collector, destined to be treasured for years to come.
