Details
A stylish 1920s Albert chain, composed of solid gold curb links that have developed a beautiful rosy patina over time, each stamped 375/ 9ct. It retains its original dog-clip clasps and T-bar drop and has been enhanced with a traditional decorative fob at the end - a later addition hallmarked London 1979 - featuring a striking jet-black onyx seal.
The piece is stamped throughout with the sponsor's mark MPC and bears London hallmarks, dating it precisely to 1926. To think, the original owner of this chain may have been reading newspaper reports of the new royal baby Princess Elizabeth, marvelling at the newly invented "televisor", or passing the first iconic red telephone kiosks appearing on Britain's streets.
A wonderful survivor, rich in character and history, this Albert chain has been treasured through the generations and remains in excellent condition. Whether worn traditionally as a gentleman's watch chain or styled as a chic statement necklace, it is a versatile antique piece ready to begin its next chapter.
