Details
This exquisite antique Edwardian Albert chain is made up of graduated gold curb links, each stamped 375/ 9ct, with a warm golden patina that has developed with age. It’s complete with its original T-bar and clasps, each hallmarked in Birmingham and made by the esteemed W.H. Wilmot Ltd in the early 1900s. Also suspended from the chain is a decorative fob charm featuring ornate scrolled motifs. It’s also fashioned in 9ct gold and was likely a later addition to the piece with faded hallmarks along the side.
Albert chains were essential accessories for early 20th-century gentlemen, often adorned with a pocket watch and secured to a waistcoat for easy access. Fob pendants were also a stylish accessory, serving as both elegant adornments and functional seals for letters and documents. During the First World War, these cherished chains took on new meaning, as soldiers’ wives wore them around the neck as heartfelt keepsakes.
This timeless 9ct gold Edwardian Albert chain is stylish and versatile and can be worn as a traditional Albert or as a chic necklace, perfect for layering with other gold chains in your collection.
