Details
Forged and assayed in Birmingham in 1913 by Herbert Bushell & Son, this classic antique Edwardian Albert chain is crafted from solid sterling silver and finished with a fresh layer of warm 18ct yellow gold gilt. The substantial, elongated trombone links are each stamped with the prestigious Lion Passant, while the original dog-clip clasps retain their Birmingham hallmarks and maker’s mark.
Dating from the pre-war era, this particular Albert chain would have been worn across the waistcoat, securing a pocket watch or seal. More than a practical accessory, it was an important expression of personal style and status, forming an integral part of a well-dressed gentleman’s attire.
Beautifully preserved and passed down through generations, this handsome collector’s piece measures 17.4 inches and can be worn traditionally as an Albert chain once more, or reinvented as a striking statement collar necklace, with its substantial links perfect for layering or personalising with charms.
