A classic antique Albert chain, crafted in Birmingham in 1919 by the esteemed B.H. Britton & Sons. It features substantial graduated curb links in solid sterling silver, each stamped with the prestigious British lion passant hallmark and finished with a sunny layer of 18ct yellow gold gilt. The chain retains its original dog clips and T-bar and is further enhanced by a commemorative shield medal suspended from the end, decorated with flowers and bearing Birmingham hallmarks at the back, dated 1918.
Produced during a pivotal moment in British history, this Albert chain reflects the spirit of the post-war era. Following the Armistice in late 1918, 1919 saw millions of servicemen demobilised and returning home across Great Britain. It was also the year the Treaty of Versailles was signed, formally bringing the First World War to a close.
