Details
Boasting a blazing fire opal at its centre, this remarkable antique cluster ring is a true statement piece designed to captivate. Weighing approx. 3.4 carats, the vibrant oval-cut opal displays a mesmerising blood-orange hue that glows with remarkable intensity in the light. Surrounding it is a complementary halo of sixteen sparkling transitional-cut diamonds, graded SI1 clarity - H colour, with a combined weight of approx. 0.96 carats.
Fire opals are formed within ancient volcanic rock cavities and are unlike any other variety of opal. Renowned for their semi-transparent appearance and vivid orange-to-red colouring, they are prized for the fiery brilliance that gives them their name. Most originate from Mexico, where they were revered by the ancient Aztecs, who believed such extraordinary gems could only have been created in paradise.
The gallery is crafted in 18ct yellow gold with platinum-topped settings and showcases an ornate basket under-gallery at the back, made up of openwork scroll motifs that subtly form hearts. The galleries design is typical of the early 20th century and looks to have been later updated with a newer gold band, complete with European 18ct stamps within.
With its fiery centrepiece and exquisite craftsmanship, this striking fire opal cocktail ring makes an unforgettable statement jewel or a meaningful gift for a loved one that is sure to turn heads wherever it’s worn.
