Details
A glamorous antique French aquamarine and diamond négligée necklace, crowned with a magnificent oval aquamarine centrepiece, with two elegant pear-cut aquamarine drops suspended from two long, asymmetrical chains at the end. Beautifully matched, the stones display an icy, crystalline blue hue and scintillating facets, all framed in warm 18ct yellow gold, with a delicate line of old European-cut diamonds twinkling down each drop.
Aquamarine, the birthstone of March, takes its name from its serene blue-green tones, long associated with happiness, harmony, and good fortune. When paired with the radiant sparkle of diamonds, the effect is irresistibly luminous, evoking sunlight dancing across the surface of a crystal-clear ocean.
Finished with a fine 18ct gold cable chain, this elegant aquamarine lavalier necklace is a beautiful survivor of the early 20th century. It is secured with a finely engraved box clasp, bearing the French 18ct eagle hallmark and is complete with a luxurious navy-blue leatherette and velvet presentation box, which is not original, signed by British jewellers “Richard Ogden”, but its deep indents suggest it has accompanied the necklace faithfully for many decades.
