Details
A glamorous pair of antique Edwardian diamond earrings, each fashioned in 18ct gold. The largest diamonds are old mine cut, weighing approx. 0.08ct each and are flush set in ornate star settings, with open workmanship around the sides. They’re graded SI1 clarity – H colour and accompanied by a second smaller rose cut diamond crowned above (approx. 0.20ct total across both).
During the 19th and early 20th Century, old cut diamonds were considered the highest quality with skilfully hand-cut facets that were said to gently dance by candlelight. They may be less flashy by modern standards, but their rugged aesthetic and distinctive fire are unlike any machine-cut stones made today and evoke the romance and skilled craftsmanship of a bygone era.
These dainty diamond earrings are complete with secure lever-back hooks and are not hallmarked but have characteristics of early 1900s French design. A wonderful pair for a wedding or glamorous occasion, exhibiting four beautiful natural diamonds that twinkle delicately in the light.
