A fabulous antique Edwardian lavaliere necklace with an articulated gallery featuring foliate motifs and octagonal links, accented with sparkling white paste stones, three larger pink step-cut pastes and a signature kite-shaped pink dropper at its tip. It’s all fashioned in silver, with delicate floral engraving on the back, and finished with a fine silver cable chain, secured with a tube clasp.
Paste is a heavy, transparent flint glass historically used to mimic the brilliance of gemstones. Cutting paste requires exceptional skill, and the finest examples can closely replicate the colour, cut, and sparkle of natural stones, achieving a beauty that is strikingly like the real thing.
This dainty Edwardian paste necklace dates to the early 20th Century and has remained in excellent condition. It’s a unique and feminine accessory, perfect to elevate both casual and formal outfits with antique elegance.
