An exquisite antique Edwardian sapphire and pearl pendant-brooch, beautifully crafted in warm 9ct yellow gold. At its heart sits a vibrant cornflower blue sapphire of approx. 0.22ct, encircled by a luminous halo of natural seed pearls, forming a delicate flower. Sinuous ribbon loops, evocative of the graceful Art Nouveau style, cascade into delicate floral garlands and a charming converted pearl drop, formerly the pendant loop.
In the sentimental language of the Edwardian era, deep blue sapphires stood for lasting loyalty, while glowing seed pearls embodied purity and true affection. Together with romantic ribbon knots for unbroken love, it was designed as an intimate sweetheart treasure to be kept close to the heart.
Now over 100 years old and still in great condition, the piece retains its original pin fitting and has been thoughtfully adapted with a new pendant bail, allowing it to transition effortlessly from an elegant neckline statement to a sophisticated lapel adornment. A beautiful example of period craftsmanship, this rare and romantic heirloom is ready to be cherished for generations to come.
