Details
This glamorous antique Edwardian fringe necklace is a rare survivor from circa 1910, created in tribute to the women’s Suffrage movement. Expertly crafted in soft-toned 9ct gold, its seven articulated drops sway gracefully with every movement and are adorned with deep violet amethysts, sparkling white topaz, and a rich green peridot.
Together, the gemstones form a powerful hidden message belonging to the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU): green for Hope, white for Purity, and violet for Dignity - embodying the famous suffragette slogan, “Give Women Votes.” More than simply decorative, pieces such as this were worn as subtle yet meaningful emblems of solidarity by women advocating for equality and social change.
Measuring 15.8-inch, this fabulous dropper necklace rests beautifully along the collarbone and is fitted with a new matching 9ct ring clasp. Its delicate fringe of colourful gemstones makes it ideal for glamorous evening occasions, but this is also a wearable piece of social history - a tribute to the remarkable women who helped change the world and serves as a symbol of strength, hope, and feminine power.
