Product Details
A beautiful antique Suffragette pendant/ brooch from the early 1900s decorated with white seed pearls, a violet amethyst dropper (approx. 0.40ct) and a large green peridot in the centre (approx. 1.75ct).
Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white were often worn in support of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase “Give Women Votes!”
The piece has a fabulous Art Nouveau design with open workmanship and flowing, foliate motifs fashioned in 9ct gold. It’s in excellent condition and is fitted with a loop and pin so it can be worn as a pendant or brooch.
