Product Details
This is a truly magnificent piece, one of the most unique we have ever exhibited for sale. A fabulous replica of a Byzantine Empresses crown made in France in the late 19th century, Circa 1880.
The Byzantine Empire was a powerful civilisation that dates back to 330 A.D. They were a continuation of the Roman Empire in the East during Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages.
Byzantine Empresses such as the Empress Theodora were known to wear extravagant traditional crowns encompassing Mediterranean and Eastern design with long dangling earrings at either side.
This exquisite crown is adorned with sparkling white Paste Stones, beautiful Glass Turquoise and lovely Faux Pearls.
A halo of Glass Turquoise and Faux Pearl balls line the top of the piece in a regal fashion that boasts stunning French workmanship and detail.
The crown is also fitted with two fabulous Byzantine style Faux Pearl earring droppers at either side which cascade down past the ear.
Dolce and Gabbana also used the Byzantine Empresses crown as inspiration for Milan fashion week in Autumn 2013, with models adorning Byzantine style crowns and earrings, adding a touch of regal beauty to the cat walk.
The piece is all set in Base Metal and fitted with an adjustable rope tie at the back.
