Details
A rare and beautifully preserved pair of antique Georgian amethyst drop earrings, adorned with round and teardrop amethysts in foil-backed, 18ct gold settings. They have a deep-violet hue and are framed by exquisite cannetille metalwork around the outside, featuring gold beading, scrolling motifs and eight bright natural pearls as well.
Amethyst is the birthstone of February and the stone of Saint Valentine. Its deep purple-violet hue has been a favourite of royalty throughout history and contrasts beautifully with the bright, natural lustre of pearls, which together symbolise romance, love and loyalty.
These grand amethyst drop earrings date to the early 19th Century and dangle from gold hook wires. They’re a fine example of Georgian elegance and display exquisite Cannetille workmanship and beautiful natural gems.
We recommend you insure for £3,500. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
