Product Details
This fabulous Georgian 18ct Gold and Duck egg Blue Enamel locket is Circa 1830.
Due to its age, Georgian jewellery is quite rare, with some pieces almost three hundred years old. From 1714 until 1837 four King Georges and a short-lived William gave rise to this extended period, spanning many fashions that are reflected in these stunning pieces of Georgian jewellery.
The wonderful locket is adorned by a cluster of creamy Pearls which represents a ‘forget me not’ with a beautiful Diamond set in the centre.
Forget-me-not, O Lord! is what a poor German knight shouted as he fell into a river. He and his lady were picking flowers by the side of the river at the time when the poor knight suddenly fell in and sank to the bottom.
Diamond is the hardest mineral on Earth and this combined with its exceptional lustre and brilliant fire has made it the most highly prized of all gems.
Pearls have a wonderful lustre with a rich creamy tone, they are lovely lustrous and natural.
The Duck egg Blue Enamel really compliments this heart shaped locket.
This locket has a glass back.
