This fabulous 18ct Gold antique Mourning ring is Georgian Circa 1800.
Due to its age, Georgian jewellery is quite rare, with some pieces almost three hundred years old. From 1714 until 1837 four King Georges and a short-lived William gave rise to this extended period, spanning many fashions that are reflected in these stunning pieces of Georgian jewellery.
The face of the ring features a glass window displaying beautiful plaited hair underneath.
Mourning jewellery mirrored the lives and times of the people who wore it. It was a souvenir to remember a loved one or a reminder to the living of the inevitability of death.
