Product Details
A remarkable antique Georgian set consisting of two ornate bracelets that can be joined at the clasps to create a large choker collar. The extravagant clasps are beautifully decorated with elaborate cannetille metalwork, floral motifs and two large oval cut pink pastes, ringed by smaller green pastes.
Paste is a heavy, transparent flint glass that has been used since ancient times to simulate the beauty of gemstones. The art of cutting paste takes expert craftsmanship and the highest quality stones are often able to replicate the cut, colour and sparkle of natural gems to near perfection.
The piece is crafted in golden pinchbeck and features a large articulated band made up of textured, grid panels with pinprick holes. It looks wonderful worn as a collar or as two matching bracelets and is in great condition with exquisite all round workmanship from the late 18th Century.
