A lovely antique Georgian horseshoe brooch from the early 19th Century adorned with eleven old cut rock crystals that sparkle like diamonds.
The Horseshoe has long been a symbol of good luck and used to be hung from houses to bring protection and good fortune. They became a popular image in jewellery in the 19th Century when there was an increase in superstition.
The stones are collet set in a silver gallery and foil-backed to give them a fabulous golden sparkle. A wonderful collector’s piece and in excellent condition.
