This magnificent antique Late Georgian Scottish cuff bangle is forged from pinchbeck and enhanced with a warm 18ct yellow gold vermeil finish. It showcases a colossal, banded agate as its centrepiece, displaying marbled patterns of midnight black, milky white, and dusty pink, framed by a halo of smaller agate stones and polished gold pommels. Elaborately detailed repoussé metalwork also cascades across the wide shoulders and band, adorned with ornate Rococo-style motifs of leaves, flowers, and regal eagle heads.
During the early 19th century, Scottish jewellery experienced a romantic revival, with traditional banded agates reflecting the rugged beauty of the Highlands. A large bangle such as this would likely have been worn by a fashionable Georgian lady during extended travels, serving not only as a bold fashion accessory but also as a memento of her memorable journey to the far North.
