Product Details
This genuine antique Georgian 18ct Yellow Gold ring is Circa 1730.
Due to its age, Georgian jewellery is quite rare, with some pieces almost three hundred years old. From 1714 until 1837 four King Georges and a short-lived William gave rise to this extended period, spanning many fashions that are reflected in these stunning pieces of Georgian jewellery.
Fabulous Cannetille workmanship adorns this spectacular ring with a Turquoise adorning the centre.
The Turquoise is said to have healing properties, it protects the wearer from negative energy and brings good fortune. Turquoise is the symbol of friendship, it brings peace to the home and has long being a symbol of forget me not.
"Forget-me-not, O Lord!" is what a poor German knight shouted as he fell into a river. He and his lady were picking flowers by the side of the river at the time and yet as fate would have it, the knight's armour dragged him down to the bottom of the lake as he fell in. Upon his cries to the Lord, he threw the blue posy of flowers to his loved one. Hence, the concept of remembrance, eternal love and faithfulness grow from this.
The ring has a small chip on the front but this is minimum wear for such an old piece.
