This beautiful antique Scottish agate brooch boasts a selection of Scottish agate and Malachite plaid set into Silver in the shape of an anchor, with a Silver rope bound around it.
Each Agate is unique and boasts various earthy colours and patterned layers which are naturally formed, earning it the appropriate nickname ‘The Earth Rainbow’.
Scottish jewellery grew in popularity in the mid- 1800s as Queen Victoria’s frequent trips to her Scottish Castle Balmoral saw her return with Scottish souvenirs and jewellery which influenced the trend in Britain.
Anchor jewellery pieces symbolise a person’s strength and stable qualities. They are also considered an image of hope as the dropping of an anchor represents the safe end of a long journey.
