A beautiful antique Victorian acrostic ring with a large navette gallery set with an amethyst, diamond, opal, ruby and emerald down the centre, spelling the word “Adore”. Fourteen twinkling diamonds also chase around the border and together with the centre diamond total approx. 0.36ct.
The Victorians loved romance and Acrostic jewellery was a popular way to express secret, romantic messages spelt out in gemstones to their beloved during a time when there were strict rules and restrictions surrounding a couple’s courtship.
The piece is modelled in 15ct gold throughout and features pierced metalwork around the sides of the gallery and beautiful floral engraving down the shoulders.
It dates to the late 19th Century and would make the perfect antique gift, reviving a wonderful Victorian tradition that’s lost none of its charm.
