Details
Dating to the early 20th Century, this exquisite antique Edwardian Albert chain is crafted in solid 9ct gold and has developed a warm rosy patina that only time can bestow. It consists of faceted cable links and interlocking "fancy" links, featuring scalloped edges, pierced fretwork, and diamond-chasing down the sides, leading to its original T-bar and dog clips (stamped 9ct).
Albert chains were both a fashionable and practical accessory for a gentleman in the early 1900s, often adorned with a pocket watch or fob for quick access. This one perhaps belonged to a serving gentleman during the Great war and has been thoughtfully extended with matching antique curb links at each end to a total length of 17.8 inches, allowing it to sit elegantly at the collarbone as a loving keepsake necklace by a devoted wife in the hope her beloved would return home safely.
This is a rare and meaningful piece of antique heritage and likely has a heartfelt story behind it. It can still be worn as a traditional watch chain, but at 17.8 inches, it is the ideal length to wear as a chic statement necklace that can be layered beautifully with other gold chains for a luxurious, textured look.
