A beautiful antique Victorian brooch showcasing a magnificent oval cut amethyst weighing an impressive 28 carats (approx.) It displays a deep violet hue and is complemented by a halo of twinkling old mine cut diamonds chasing around the outside, totalling approx. 2.2ct.
Amethyst is the birthstone of February and is considered a stone of protection, clarity and tranquillity. Its deep violet colouring has been highly esteemed throughout history, adorning regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
The gallery is modelled in 15ct gold and features a secure claw setting for the amethyst, pierced sides and a pin at the back complete with a locking catch. It dates to the late 19th Century and boasts a gorgeous collection of gems that are in excellent condition.
