Details
A marvellous antique Victorian pendant exhibiting a large square step-cut amethyst in the centre with a regal, deep purple hue. It weighs approx. 12 carats and is surrounded by scrolling, foliate motifs and a dropper all decorated with sparkling old cut diamonds. They have superb SI1 clarity – H colour and the largest weigh approx. 0.22ct each, bringing the total to approx. 1.3ct.
Amethyst is the birthstone of February and the stone of Saint Valentine. Its deep purple-violet hue has been a favourite of royalty throughout history and contrasts beautifully with the bright, scintillating sparkle of diamonds, which together symbolise romance, love and loyalty.
The open-work gallery is crafted in silver and 18ct gold and is fitted with a pin at the back so it can also be worn as a brooch. A stunning antique find dating to the late 19th Century that has remained in pristine condition.
