A magnificent antique Victorian amethyst riviere choker necklace adorned with thirteen luxurious amethysts along the bottom with a regal, deep-purple hue. They graduate in size from 3 to 4ct and together total approx. 40ct.
Amethyst is the birthstone of February and is considered a stone of protection, clarity and tranquillity. Its deep violet colouring has been highly esteemed throughout history, adorning regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
The amethysts are set in crimped, 15ct gold bezel links and join a 15ct cable chain, finished with a tube clasp. It’s a glamorous Victorian piece, all in excellent condition and dates to the late 19th Century.
