A fabulous antique Victorian heart pendant built around a beautiful deep purple amethyst heart in the centre, weighing approx. 10ct. It’s framed by ornate, open-work cannetille metalwork and scrolling motifs, all crafted in 15ct gold with seven seed pearls dotted around the border and a pear cut amethyst dropper hanging at the bottom.
Amethyst is the birthstone of February and is considered a stone of protection, clarity and tranquillity. Its deep violet colouring has been highly esteemed throughout history, adorning regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
The pendant dates to the late 19th Century and has remained in excellent condition. It’s accompanied by a new silky 9ct gold curb chain to display it on with Birmingham hallmarks at the clasp, dating to 2003.
