Details
A charming antique Victorian diamond novelty bar brooch, featuring a glitzy Scotty dog in the centre, encrusted with twinkling old mine cut diamonds (approx. 0.18ct) and a small ruby eye. He’s finely engraved with hair and milgrain detailing and fashioned in platinum with a long 18/ 15 carat gold bar and pin at the back, held by a secure locking catch.
Novelty brooches were a stylish and whimsical accessory in the 19th century, often featuring animals, flowers, or everyday objects with personal or sentimental significance. Dogs were especially popular, often showcasing the wearer’s favourite breed or their own beloved canine companion.
If you adore this breed or are lucky enough to have a special Scotty dog best friend at home, then this is the perfect gift for you or someone you know. A delightful Victorian treasure from the late 19th Century with the maker’s mark “A&W” at the back, possibly belonging to “Alabaster and Wilson” of Birmingham.
