Product Details
A gorgeous antique Victorian gemstone butterfly brooch, decorated with twinkling rose cut diamonds (0.50ct), cherry-pink cushion cut rubies (0.64ct) and blue sapphires (0.68ct), with natural pearls chasing down the abdomen.
During the late 19th Century many were left longing to reconnect with the beauty of the natural world after the vast urbanisation of Great Britain. This brought about an abundance of romanticised Insect and butterfly pieces, decorated with colourful gemstones to highlight the beauty and value of nature.
The piece is a union of silver and 15ct gold and is fitted with a new pin and locking catch at the back. It would make a fabulous antique lapel clip, showcasing a colourful array of natural gems.
We recommend you insure for £2,300. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
