Details
An exquisite antique Victorian fob pendant, this beautifully preserved piece is inlaid with a rich carnelian intaglio seal at the base, engraved with a striking heraldic crest depicting the Jerusalem cross. Expertly crafted in 18ct gold, the gold fob pendant showcases exceptional Victorian workmanship, with elegant feather motifs intricately engraved around both the upper mount and the base. The warm tones of the polished carnelian contrast beautifully with the lustrous gold, creating a refined and highly collectable accessory.
Fob pendants were among the most fashionable gentleman's accessories during the 19th Century, traditionally suspended from a watch chain alongside a pocket watch. More than decorative, each fob seal pendant featured a carved intaglio that could be pressed into hot sealing wax to authenticate letters, legal papers and other important documents. Many examples were personalised with family crests, monograms or heraldic symbols, making every seal fob pendant both a practical tool and a unique expression of its owner's identity and status.
This elegant Victorian fob pendant dates to the mid-19th Century and remains in excellent original condition, with crisp engraving and a beautifully preserved carnelian seal. Whether worn as a distinctive pendant, added to a watch chain or treasured as part of an antique jewellery collection, this exceptional antique fob pendant is a fine example of Victorian craftsmanship and a timeless piece of history.
