Details
A grand antique Edwardian curb bracelet, consisting of chunky 9ct gold curb links, held by a safety chain and heart padlock clasp. Each link has developed a lovely patina with age and features 9ct stamps on the reverse, with textured engraving across the top. The heart is further decorated with foliate artistry across both sides, including depictions of ivy leaves on the front.
Heart padlocks were a popular love token in the early 20th Century, symbolising a couple’s strong love, trust, and commitment to one another. Ivy was also a romantic motif, representing an unbreakable, loving bond between two people, as reflected in the Victorian rhyme; “Close clings the ivy to the tree, so in my heart I cling to thee”.
The perfect gift for a loved one, this beautiful Edwardian curb bracelet has been beautifully preserved and cherished over the centuries. It was made in Birmingham in 1906 and is hallmarked on the side of the padlock.
