A remarkable antique Victorian 9ct gold curb bracelet from the late 19th Century featuring seven unique fobs, two of which are in the form of watch keys. Each fob can be rotated and is set with bloodstone, carnelian and white agate seals on both sides. Most have yet to be engraved but one is inscribed with the word “Remembrance” and another features a beautiful intaglio monogram engraved underneath.
Fobs were a popular accessory in the Victorian era and were often worn alongside a gentleman’s pocket watch. They were designed to be engraved with an intaglio seal so that an image, phrase, or monogram could be stamped into sealing wax on important documents or even love letters to distant sweethearts.
The fobs are modelled in 9ct, 15ct and 18ct gold and display various maker’s marks and hallmarks, all originating from Birmingham and dated between 1887 and 1903. It’s a highly collectable piece and is held securely by a safety chain and 9ct heart padlock clasp.
We recommend you insure for £3,000. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
