A pretty antique Victorian swallow brooch from the late 19th Century decorated with glistening rose cut diamonds and a red paste eye.
The image of a swallow was popular during the Victorian era and was often gifted as a romantic token as the birds are known to mate for life and therefore symbolise love and faithfulness.
The piece is crafted in silver with a gold gilded beak and back. The pin and locking clasp are 18ct gold and look to have been added over time to replace the old pin.
It’s in excellent condition and accompanied by a lovely, fitted box with cream interior to store it in.
