These elegantly engraved antique Victorian drop earrings are inlaid with intricate floral patterns all crafted in shining 9ct Yellow Gold. They are fine examples of the Estruscan revival design movement which was popular in the later years of the reign of Queen Victoria.
Etruscan revival pieces echoed the styles and forms of truly ancient jewellery, and were influenced by the discovery of many ancient archaeological sites during the Victorian period. Victorian jewellers crafted these elaborate pieces to pay homage to the styles used by the ancient Etruscans, who were interred in elaborate tombs with all of their worldly possessions – much like the Egyptian pharaohs.
These earrings can be worn with or without the dropper sections. They come equipped with lever back fittings and are beautiful examples of this style of antique jewellery.
