Product Details
A stunning antique crescent moon brooch made in France, Circa 1900. It’s decorated with a spectacular array of bright old mine, rose and cushion cut diamonds, the largest of which run along the back of the piece and graduate from 0.08ct at the tips to 0.50ct in the centre, making a grand total of approx. 6 carats.
Celestial jewellery became increasingly sought after during the 19th Century as people began to look up at the stars and heavens once more with renewed fascination. The crescent moon was a symbol of the Greek God Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and represented change and female empowerment in the 1800s.
The gallery is a union of silver and 14ct gold with a secure pin and trombone clasp at the back, complete with French hallmarks. It’s dazzling and captivating and is accompanied by an antique box to store it in, made by “Henry Tatton & Son” of Edinburgh.
