Details
An exquisite antique Victorian Etruscan revival pendant showcasing a bulging cabochon garnet at its heart, set in a round 15ct yellow gold frame with ornate rings and rope-edge decoration bordering. The large, polished garnet exhibits a deep cherry-pink hue when it catches the light and is backed with a hidden locket on the reverse, complete with gold rim and glass window.
Etruscan revival pieces were crafted in the late 1800s after ancient Etruscan jewellery was unearthed in tombs outside of Rome, beginning a fascination with the style. Garnet was also a popular gemstone during this time and was considered a stone of the heart with its blazing red-pink fire symbolic of passion, commitment, and enduring love.
Dating the mid 19th Century, this fabulous Etruscan revival garnet pendant is a highly collectable piece of Victorian heritage that has withstood the test of time. It would make the perfect antique gift for a loved one, with room at the back to hold a cherished photograph or a lock of hair.
