A delightful antique Victorian Harlequin necklace adorned with eleven colourful gems, a combination of purple amethysts, orange citrines, smoky quartz and green aquamarines, ranging from approx. 6ct – 10ct.
Harlequin jewellery is named after the colourful costumes of the 16th century comedy actors of the same name. The style was popular during the 19th Century and saw wonderful pieces of jewellery abundantly decorated in coloured gemstones.
The gems are bezel set in ornate 18ct gold frames, with rope edging and join two cable chains at the top, held by an engraved 18ct box clasp. It’s a gorgeous piece, in excellent condition with a dazzling rainbow of gems on display.
We recommend you insure for £5,000. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
