Details
This delightful antique Victorian Harlequin necklace is adorned with a vibrant rainbow of natural gemstones, including lavender amethyst, golden citrine, red garnet, and green peridot. Each gemstone is framed within a delicate silver halo, allowing light to effortlessly pass through, joined by fine links in-between, all beautifully gilded in 18ct yellow gold.
As its name suggests, Harlequin jewellery draws inspiration from the colourful patchwork costumes worn by the characters of 16th-century Commedia dell’arte. The style flourished during the 19th century, when jewellers embraced richly coloured gemstone combinations to create pieces that were both playful and luxurious.
Preserved in excellent condition, this enchanting multi-gemstone necklace boasts an impressive 23-inch length, allowing its vivid “pick and mix” palette of natural gems to drape elegantly around the neck, adding a fabulous pop of colour to any outfit.
