Adorned with a charming multi-coloured rainbow of natural gems, this fabulous antique Victorian harlequin necklace is sure to delight. Eighteen quartz and tourmaline, in pink, red, green and yellow, line the bottom of the piece, culminating with a dropper at the end. They’re held in 15ct yellow gold frames and graduate from approx. 0.70 to 1.5ct.
Harlequin jewellery, as the name suggests, draws its inspiration from the colourful patchwork costumes of the 16th Century “Commedia dell'arte” characters. The style became popular during the 19th Century and saw wonderful pieces of jewellery abundantly decorated in multi-coloured gemstones, making them both elegant and playful.
This gorgeous Victorian multi-gemstone necklace is a fabulous collector’s piece and would add a beautiful splash of colour and elegance to any outfit. It dates to the late 19th Century and is suspended from a fine 15ct chain, with a hook clasp at the end.
