Product Details
A romantic antique Victorian brooch depicting an arrow with two overlapping horseshoes in the centre, one lined with twinkling diamonds and the other lustrous seed pearls. The arrowhead and flights are also decorated with diamonds and bring the total to approx. 1.16ct.
Horseshoes were a popular Victorian symbol that was believed to bring good luck. The pairing of two horseshoes with complementary stones likely represents the good fortune surrounding the love between two people and is further emphasised by the arrow of cupid, the God of love, whose arrows were said to pierce the heart and overwhelm the individual with desire.
The piece is fashioned in 18ct gold and is fitted with a secure locking clasp at the back. It’s a sweet antique treasure, dating to the late 19th century, with a beautiful sentiment attached.
We recommend you insure for £2,500. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
