A magnificent antique Victorian collar consisting of chunky cable links with ivy engraved panels growing out from the sides. It’s fashioned entirely in sterling silver and bestowed with a large, ornate locket with a star-studded border and fine patterning chased across the centre with a beautiful forget me not on top highlighted in rose gold with yellow gold leaves.
Forget me nots and Ivy were a popular combination in the Victorian era, both symbolising eternal love and popularly featured on lockets containing images of loved ones as it signified that they will never be forgotten and remain forever close to the wearer’s heart.
It’s a grand piece of Victorian jewellery and the locket is complete with rims and windows within along with the maker’s mark and Birmingham hallmarks on the reverse dating it to 1886.
