An extraordinary antique Victorian statement bracelet showcasing five luminous Ceylon moonstone cabochons, framed in ornate 18ct yellow gold wirework. Each natural gem reveals a captivating silvery-blue adularescence, its ethereal glow seeming to float across its high-domed surface. The exquisite settings feature finely executed cannetille metalwork, with tightly coiled spirals, scrolling openwork and delicate beaded granulation. Articulated links adorned with floral rosettes connect each gemstone, allowing the bracelet to drape gracefully around the wrist.
Moonstone takes its name from its enchanting, moon-like luminosity, once believed to be moonlight captured in stone. In Greek mythology, it was associated with Selene, goddess of the Moon, and traditionally linked with love, wisdom and new beginnings.
The bracelet fastens with a concealed box clasp and is complemented by a new safety chain with a miniature spring-ring catch for added security. A rare and captivating treasure from the late 19th century, this beautifully preserved bracelet embodies the romance of the Victorian era, uniting exceptional goldsmithing, celestial gemstones and intricate period craftsmanship.
