Product Details
A fabulous antique Victorian pendant from the late 19th Century built around a mammoth cabochon moonstone in the centre weighing approx. 19.5 carats. It has a cloudy, white appearance with a subtle luminescent glow that shimmers across the surface.
The moonstone is held securely in a 15ct gold claw setting, bordered by an open-work scallop frame, dotted with alternating white pearls and pink rubies in between each arch.
The mystifying moonstone derives its name from the stone’s ethereal, luminescent light that was once believed to be moonlight in solid form. In Greek mythology they were associated with Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and said to be a path to love, wisdom and new beginnings.
The piece looks like it was originally a brooch but has been converted to a pendant over time with the addition of a new hinged loop at the back. It would look enchanting on the end of a gold chain and is in pristine condition.
