Product Details
A spectacular Victorian statement ring built around a large cabochon moonstone in the centre with a glossy, transparent surface and silvery-blue inner glow. It weighs approx. 12 carats and is haloed by sixteen deep blue cushion cut sapphires around the border, totalling approx. 1.8ct.
The mystifying moonstone derives its name from the stone’s ethereal, luminescent light that was once believed to be moonlight in solid form. In Greek mythology they were associated with Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and said to be a path to love, wisdom and new beginnings.
The large gallery is modelled in 9ct gold and features pierced, petal workmanship at the back. It dates to the late 19th Century and has been joined with a new 14ct band at the back, added post-1932.
It’s an alluring statement piece with a glorious assortment of complementary gemstones that are sure to catch the eye.
We recommend you insure for £2,000. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
