Product Details
An exquisite Antique late Victorian locket and collar modelled in Sterling Silver and gilded in 18ct Yellow Gold. The locket features lovely embossed artistry with Ivy and Forget me nots engraved along the front and a previous owner’s monogram on the back.
The locket has lots of romantic symbolism with Forget me nots carrying a message of love and remembrance and Ivy which represents an unbreakable bond, such as friendship or marriage.
The locket opens and closes securely with windows within. One window still contains a lock of hair which must have been very dear to a previous owner. Mourning jewellery in the Victorian Era sometimes contained a lock of hair as a souvenir to remember a loved one so that a piece of them was always kept close to the wearer.
The collar is also remarkable and made up of ornate links which lead to a secure ring clasp. It’s a wonderful piece of history and complete with Birmingham hallmarks which date it to 1883.
