Details
This magnificent antique Art Nouveau opal diamond pendant/ brooch is a fine example of Victorian craftsmanship. Fashioned in bright 15ct yellow gold, the meticulously crafted open-work gallery consists of graceful, scrolling motifs and is decorated with an array of bright old mine cut diamonds (approx. 0.70ct), surrounding a spellbinding cushion-shaped natural opal cabochon at its heart, with a second dangling from a dropper below. They weigh approx. 1 and 5 carats and exhibit intense green, blue, and red flashes that shimmer like a fiery rainbow across the surface.
Opal is the birthstone of October and is considered a stone of luck, creativity, and passion. Its enchanting spectrum of fiery colours contrasts beautifully with the brightness of diamonds, creating a captivating display reminiscent of the Aurora Borealis dancing across a starry sky.
This must be one of the finest Victorian opal diamond brooches we’ve ever seen! Wear it on the end of a chain or use the pin at the back to fasten it to your lapel as a brooch. It’s a truly enchanting and rare antique treasure, beautifully preserved from the late 19th Century and accompanied by its original antique box with a brown leatherette exterior and icy-blue velvet/ silk interior with the maker’s crest belonging to “Walter Sexton” of Dublin printed proudly under the lid.
