Product Details
A spectacular antique Victorian crescent moon brooch set with fifteen spellbinding natural opal cabochons, with sparkling old mine-cut diamonds chasing around the edge. The opals exhibit a vibrant medley of colours that intensify with the light. There are approx. 10ct total, with approx. 2ct of diamond.
Celestial jewellery became increasingly sought after during the 19th Century as people began to look up at the stars and heavens once more with renewed fascination. The crescent moon was a symbol of the Greek God Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and represented change and female empowerment in the Victorian Era.
The Victorian brooch is crafted in 15ct gold throughout and features pierced workmanship around the sides and a strong pin at the back. It dates to the late 19th Century and showcases a dazzling collection of diamonds and opals.
We recommend you insure for £6,200. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
