A colourful antique Victorian crescent moon brooch (Circa 1900) modelled in 18ct gold and adorned with a row of graduating natural opal cabochons (approx. 2.3ct total) with twinkling diamonds nestled in between (approx. 0.26ct total).
Celestial jewellery became increasingly sought after during the 19th Century as people began to look up at the stars and heavens once more with renewed fascination. The crescent moon was a symbol of the Greek God Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and represented change and female empowerment in the Victorian Era.
The brooch has remained in excellent condition and displays a spellbinding collection of opals, radiating a vibrant rainbow of colours.
We recommend you insure for £3,000. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
